NHL bets for Thursday night: Opportunities are everywhere

26 teams are playing some hockey tonight, giving us much to work through. We've circled our favorite spots and the best odds we can find for each on this Thursday in the NHL.

Kirill Kaprizov over 1.5 points (+130 DK)

I like the over in the Seattle-Minnesota game tonight, I bet on it. Given that belief, it's logical we look around to see if any points or goal props offer up some value, and we've settled on Kirill Kaprizov.

Kaprizov produces far more often at home for both his shots and points. In Minnesota this year, Kaprizov has 2+ points in four straight, and dating back to last year, Kaprizov has recorded 2+ points in 10 of his last 13 home games.

One of those games was against Seattle. He finished with a goal and three assists in that one. A contributing factor to Kaprizov's success at racking up points has been on the power play. He has a PPP in every home game this season, six in total, and three of his four points against the Kraken in that game last season were on the power play.

Seattle's penalty kill comes into this one as the third-worst unit in hockey. Expect a power play goal or two from Minnesota, and expect Kaprizov to be involved.

Mark Scheifele over 2.5 SOG (-102 FD)

We're betting on Scheifele because of the success he's displayed at home. In three home games this season, the Winnipeg Jets top-line center has 14 SOG, twice going for 5+ shots on net. In his last seven games in Winnipeg, Scheifele is over 2.5 five times.

The attempts go way up at home, and against a Montreal team allowing 35 shots per game on the road, we need a piece of the Jets. I'll opt for the guy who tends to step up here in this location. He has three goals at home this season and had two when he last saw the Canadiens.

.5u: Mark Schiefele goal (+155 CZR)

.5u: Arthur Kaliyev goal (+410 CZR)

I love the value on this play for Arthur Kaliyev. I'm on the over in this Kings-Blackhawks game for a few reasons, but one of the driving factors is the prevalence of power plays we should be seeing.

You may be surprised to hear that it's Kaliyev who leads Los Angeles in power-play shots this season with 13. Chicago is allowing the fourth-most power-play opportunities per game, and their PK is seventh-worst in the league. Kaliyev has a power-play goal in three of his last four games, and at +410 this play is steeped in value.

Nazem Kadri over 3.5 SOG (-113 CZR)

As long as we're getting odds like this we may as well continue betting on Nazem Kadri. Kadri is over this 3.5 number in six of seven, and four straight (all at home).

The Flames are still in Calgary, and Nashville is a good target for both shots and expected power plays. With Kadri involved on the PP and averaging 7.6 attempts per game, there's every reason to expect more of the same from the center. He has four goals in his last four games.

.5u: Nazem Kadri goal (+185 DK)

.5u: Dougie Hamilton 4+ shots (+148 FD)

Hamilton will be facing an Edmonton team that is allowing the most shots per game to defensemen and 35.0 total on the year.

Hamilton's volume has been absurd, he's averaging 7.2 attempts per game on the season and has gone for 4+ in five of the last nine. His line is set at just 2.5, which is why I'll make this a half-unit play, but Hamilton should continue piling up shots tonight.

Timo Meier over 4.5 SOG (+110 FD)

Timo Meier is rolling right now, and I don't even care that Florida is one of the tighter teams to shots in the league. Meier is the Sharks offense right now and at plus-money, I'm confident he keeps it rolling.

Timo has 5+ shots in five straight games, averaging 6.6/game in this stretch. Where he'll really shine will be on the power play. The Panthers are allowing the seventh-most power-play opportunities per game and Meier's 20 PP shots are 14 more than the next closest Shark.

.5u: Timo Meier over 0.5 power play points (+280 DK)

Let's stay with the power play for a moment and load up another play: Meier to get a PPP. His goal is a fine pivot if you want, but I'll bank on it happening on the power play. He has a PPP in three straight games, and not only do the Panthers hand out a ton of penalties, they struggle stopping them.

Florida's PK is sixth-worst in the NHL so far, I love the value here on Meier at home getting involved in a power play goal. He makes this team run.

It's a packed Thursday on the ice, let's have ourselves a big night. Enjoy the games!
