NHL bets: Totals and two props for Friday 1/6

It's been a fun week of hockey, so let's keep our pulse on the action and load up a few looks for Friday night in the NHL.

Whether you like betting on totals or props, we've got a pair of each.

Capitals over 3.5 goals, including OT (-105 DK)

I expect Washington to keep on cruising tonight. The Capitals have netted four or more goals in 11 of their last 14 games, and against Nashville, they've gone over 3.5 goals scored in four of the last five meetings.

The Predators just surrendered 67 shots last night and have allowed 3.3 goals per game on the road. I expect it to be Kevin Lankinen in net tonight after Juuse Saros recorded 64 saves yesterday, and Lankinen has allowed five goals in two straight starts.

FLA-DET over 5.5 & CGY over 2.5 goals in regulation (+119 DK)

I've enjoyed some nice success moving game and team totals down one, and would like to continue that approach here with these two spots.

Florida-Detroit looks solid for goals, as the past four meetings between these two teams has yielded totals of eight, seven, seven and six.

I'm seeing two teams that tend to let up shots, two teams getting penalized at an above-average rate, and two struggling penalty kills. That's enough for me to expect some goal-scoring, and Ville Husso has been a serious liability lately for Detroit, allowing 4+ goals in five straight starts.

The Panthers have allowed 3.8 goals per game on the road this season, so I expect the Red Wings to chip in a few and help the cause here.

I'll pair with Calgary to notch three goals in regulation against an Islanders team on a back-to-back. New York has been quite loose to shots on the road, allowing 32.6 per game, and season averages project three goals with relative ease for the Flames at home.

Calgary has scored three or more times against the Islanders in five straight meetings. Ilya Sorokin is likely not in net tonight for New York given he started yesterday against Edmonton.

Risk 1u: Dylan Larkin over 2.5 SOG (-130 DK)

I typically bet to win 1u, but want it on the record that for this wager, I'm just risking a unit.

Dylan Larkin to get three shots is -160 on FanDuel, quite the difference. The bet on Larkin here is based on his rich history against Florida. He's gone over 2.5 shots on goal in seven straight against the Panthers and 13 of his last 18 meetings.

In his past four with Florida, Larkin notched 4+ SOG each time. The Panthers have had their penalty problems this season, and Larkin is one of the most involved power play shooters on Detroit.

Timo Meier goal (+115 DK)

Meier and the Sharks should be able to find the back of the net against the Ducks tonight. Anaheim is allowing 3.6 goals per game at home, and after a shutout win over Dallas, I expect a regression back to their season averages.

Sharks-Ducks games are typically high-scoring, and Meier has been a contributing factor there. Meier has a goal in three straight games against the Ducks and has piled up seven over his past five meetings. He has five goals in his last five road games. The expected power play chances coming against a Ducks team handing out four PP opportunities per game only further bolsters my love for Timo here, as he makes the San Jose power play run.
