NHL bets: Two plays for Friday night on the ice

We're keeping it simple on this fine Friday in the NHL, backing a player with a 100% hit rate against his opponent, and jumping on a game prop that seems to be a number or two too low.

Matty Beniers over 0.5 points (-105 DraftKings)

Kraken vs. Ducks, 10 p.m. ET

It's Matty Beniers vs. the Ducks Day for those who celebrate. The young Seattle Kraken forward simply loves to face Anaheim, and it's best we respect his history against them with a bet.

Beniers has a point in all seven career meetings with the Ducks, six times logging 2+ points. Who are we to scoff at such production? I noticed this prior to their two meetings a week ago, and they played twice and Beniers piled up four points.

He's done well by me up to this point off this matchup history and I'll continue to back him, especially at such a good price.

Anaheim is allowing 3.6 goals per game on home ice over the last month and a half, and their penalty kill has been absolutely dreadful. The Kraken should be able to notch 3-4+ goals this evening, as they so often do against the Ducks.

Colorado-Edmonton over 63.5 total shots on goal (-125 ESPN BET)

Avalanche vs. Oilers, 9 p.m. ET

You can find this on ESPN under "Game Props" and I think the number is just a bit too soft for this star-studded matchup out West.

Both Colorado and Edmonton are averaging north of 35+ shots per game in their respective locations over the last 45 days, and both sides also are allowing 30+ shots per game.

If simply those numbers hold, we're likely looking at 65-70+ total shots between the two of them.

I like the bet far more once I saw how they tend to match up against each other. This number has gone over in 10 straight meetings, with those games averaging 74.9 total shots on goal.

Going in this direction should conceivably give us a more enjoyable betting experience, as we're less concerned with who is getting the shots off and just enjoying each SOG as it comes through.

If you feel so inclined to back a certain player, I like Connor McDavid and Mikko Rantanen most.
