NHL bets: Two plus-money looks for Thursday, Feb. 15

We won our lone NHL bet yesterday, and keeping it simple seems best as we navigate into a larger slate tonight. Despite 12 games, we've limited the field to just two of our favorite looks, both at plus-money.

Tampa Bay over 3.5 goals (+106 FD)

The Lightning return home tonight, a place they've simply loved to skate of late. Their offensive production in Tampa Bay has been simply superb, with their most recent games yielding the following goals scored: six, six, seven, five, four, three and four.

I'll gladly back them go once again go over 3.5 goals at home, especially when you consider that Colorado is allowing 3.9 goals per game on the road over the past 45 days.

A big reason why both teams are averaging the numbers they are is from special teams. Tampa's 37% power-play scoring rate is second-best in the NHL over the last month, and Colorado's killing penalties at the eighth-worst frequency in that span. Knowing that element exists certainly raises my confidence level in Tampa Bay finding some goals.

Two of the past three meetings between these teams has seen the Lightning score four or more goals.

Nazem Kadri & Elias Pettersson point (+129 DK)

As much as I have loved playing point SGPs of late, I think I'd rather just parlay a guy from both teams that I like to score later tonight, rather than try to correctly gauge a combination of players.

I want to play Calgary and Vancouver over 2.5 goals, but I don't like the -140 price on that play, so I'm pivoting to the two men who seem best positioned to get involved.

Nazem Kadri simply loves playing the Sharks, with a point in nine straight meetings and 14 total in that stretch. He has a point in eight of his last 10 at home, and with San Jose on a back-to-back, I'm expecting the Flames to notch plenty of scoring here.

Elias Pettersson and Vancouver just played Detroit a few days ago, and Pettersson got involved in all three goals the Canucks were able to score. With Vancouver averaging 4.0 goals per game at home in the past 45 days and the Red Wings allowing 3.4 goals per game on the road, I'm expecting plenty of Vancouver action in this one.

Pettersson has 11 points in his last nine at home.
