NHL bets: Two plus-money plays for Thursday, March 14

We need to get right on the ice this week, and I've decided that starts today with two shots on goal prop plays. Hopefully you're ready for some hockey hits, loving these plus-money looks tonight.

1u: Bryan Rust over 3.5 SOG (+158 FanDuel)

Sharks vs. Penguins, 7 p.m. ET

Don't mind him, Bryan Rust has come back and uncorked a casual 13 SOG on 18 attempts in two games since returning to the Pittsburgh lineup.

That now makes three straight games of 6+ shots, and we're getting this price for him to go over 3.5? Against the Sharks? Yeah OK, if this is a trap, I'm willing to spring it.

I feel like that's not enough words but I have nothing else to add to this read really. Oh yeah, he has 4+ shots in three of his last four against the Sharks.

Did I mention San Jose is allowing north of 36 shots per game on the road over the past 45 days? Ok, that seems like I've filled my quota now. I might have to bet Rust up at 5+ shots also at +340.

1u: Clayton Keller 3+ shots, Logan Cooley 2+ shots (+136 FD)

Coyotes vs. Red Wings, 7 p.m. ET

Detroit has been simply lost lately, and I continue to bring them up because without Dylan Larkin they've been a defensive turnstile.

In 10 games sans Larkin, Detroit has allowed 37.4 shots per game, and I'm willing to follow that trend no matter who is on the other end.

A look around Arizona's lineup has me settling on Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley, who are topping the team in 5v5 shots since Keller came back.

Keller is averaging 3.6 SOG/game on 6.4 attempts/game in the five games since his return, notching 3+ each time, including a recent game against Detroit. Keller has gone over 2.5 shots in four of his last five against Detroit.

Cooley is averaging 3.0 SOG/game on 4.8 attempts/game in this five game stretch, which includes a 5-SOG night against this Red Wings team just six days ago. Cooley has 2+ in seven of his last 10, with 3+ in four of his last five. I like him up at that number for sure, but I'll take the floor of two in this play.
