The National Hockey League has fined the Vancouver Canucks $50,000 for violating offseason training rules for players, according to multiple reports.

Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali — The Team reports that the fine comes as a result of on-ice sessions the club held from April 17th to April 23rd in Vancouver. The actions were in violation of the CBA, which prevents clubs’ coaching staff and hockey ops personnel from participating in any on-ice sessions with players during the offseason.

Up to six players took part in the sessions as Daniel and Henrik Sedin worked with the players, two of which were Dakota Joshua and Jack Studnicka, according to Dhaliwal. Dhaliwal also added that the Canucks were warned that if it happens again, the fines “will be significantly higher.”

The last time the organization was fined this heavily was when former general manager Jim Benning was fined for tampering in 2016, when Benning expressed his interest in Tampa Bay Lightning centre Steven Stamkos, a pending unrestricted free agent, and Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban in a radio interview.
