NHL not restricting travel for players over Christmas break
The NHL announced a league-wide shutdown on Monday due to COVID-19. The shutdown is planned to last through Christmas, with practices resuming on Dec. 26 and play restarting on Dec. 27.
On Tuesday morning, further details were reported by ESPN's Emily Kaplan.
The three-day break will begin on Friday. There will be two games played on Tuesday (Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers, and Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Vegas Golden Knights) before the shutdown begins.
As of Monday night, 39 NHL games had been postponed in the last week, bringing the season total to 44.
