NHL player props: Five SOG names to know on Saturday Nov. 11

It's a loaded Saturday on the ice, and quite a few games seem to be offering up some prop opportunity. Unfortunately, a good chunk of the plays that look best have quite a bit of juice, so I'm opting for a few 2-leggers and reduced wager bets in order to touch the spots that seem best.

Here's where we've settled as we aim for a profitable day in the NHL.

Risk .75u: Nikolaj Ehlers & Brad Marchand over 2.5 SOG (+185 DK)

Winnipeg and Boston both should get their shots off today. The Jets are facing a Dallas team allowing 36.4 shots per game on the road over the past month, while the Bruins get a Montreal squad seeing 35.0 shots per game against them at home.

I'm opting for Nikolaj Ehlers and Brad Marchand to take advantage.

Ehlers has nine shots on goal on 20 attempts in his last two home games, and he's racked up 10 SOG on 16 attempts in his past two meetings with the Stars.

Marchand is over 2.5 shots in five of six road games this season, averaging 4.2 SOG/game. He's averaging 3.9 SOG/game in his last seven games against the Canadiens and he's averaging 7.8 attempts across his past five games.

Risk .75u: William Nylander over 3.5 SOG & Teuvo Teravainen over 1.5 SOG (+155 DK)

William Nylander is rolling and I see no reason he'll slow down here, as Vancouver has let up 33.3 shots per game on the road. Nylander is over in six of eight at home and 10 of 14 overall, averaging 4.7 SOG/game and 8.0 attempts/game. He's gone over this line in three of his last four against the Canucks.

Teravainen's number seems too low to me. He's surpassed it in nine of 14 games, and he's logged 5+ attempts in seven straight games. Over the past two seasons, Teravainen has a 94% hit rate at 1.5 shots when he gets off 5+ attempts, averaging 3.7 SOG/game.

Teravainen is over in five of his last seven against the Lightning, a team that allows 34.1 shots per game at home in their past month of play.

Risk 1u: Bryan Rust over 2.5 SOG (-130 DK)

-130 is about my limit to go straight on a shot prop, but given how frustrating this market can sometimes be (I mean fun!), I'd rather risk 1u rather than bet to win 1u on Bryan Rust here.

The appeal on Rust and the Penguins is simple. Buffalo is allowing 33.5 shots per game on the road over the past month, and Pittsburgh is averaging north of 36 pucks on net per game when skating at home.

Rust has been a motor to that number, over his 2.5 SOG line in five of six at home, averaging 3.7 SOG/game. Over the last two at home, Rust has 20 attempts and 10 SOG, and he's averaging 4.0 SOG/game in his last five regardless of location.

I like Rust to stay involved here, RWs have had some big games lately against Buffalo.

Good luck today, let's win some bets!
