Good morning, my name is Andrew Fantucchio. It’s Thursday, November 9, and here’s what’s happening around the NHL today.
Wild Day Of Trades:
The Minnesota Wild made a pair of trades on Wednesday.
First, the Wild dealt Calen Addison to the San Jose Sharks for Adam Raska and a 2026 fifth-round draft pick and then acquired Zach Bogosian from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
In theory, the two trades should supplement Minnesota defensively, as they’ve struggled early on this season in their own zone.
The Wild owns the NHL’s worst penalty-killing unit and is allowing an average of four goals per game.
McAvoy Suspension Upheld:
The Boston Bruins will officially be without Charlie McAvoy as they take on the New York Islanders tonight as he serves the final game of his four-game suspension.
McAvoy lost his appeal case yesterday of the NHL’s decision to suspend him for hitting Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson in the head on Oct. 30.
Eberle Sent To Hospital After Beign Cut By Skate Blade:
According to a report from the Seattle Times, Seattle Kraken forward Jordan Eberle was sent to the hospital after beign lacerated in the leg by a skate blade during the team’s practice on Wednesday.
The injury is being described as a “deep cut” by Kraken general manager Ron Francis near Eberle’s quad muscle.
As a result, the Kraken have called up their top prospect, Shane Wright, to take Eberle’s place.
Yesterday’s Scoreboard:
Senators: 6, Maple Leafs: 3
Panthers: 4, Capitals: 3 (OT)
