Tucker Ness has been suspended for the remainder of the college hockey season after instigating a fight during Saturday's game between Arizona State and Alaska.

Greg Powers, the head coach at Arizona State, decided to suspended his native Minnesotan defenseman from all team activities. Ness, from Plymouth and a former star at Wayzata High School, left the penalty box to fight Alaska's Dawson Bruneski with 11 seconds left in the game.

Both players were disqualified from the game in addition to being disqualified from their respective team's next game. What Arizona State did to Ness was an additional punishment.

"There is no place in college hockey for what happened," Powers said in a statement Monday. "The ASU player who left the box was suspended indefinitely from all team activities immediately after the game. There is a difference between something that may happen in the heat of the moment and what did happen, and we are taking our player's decision to leave the penalty box very seriously."

Video of the brawl shows Ness and Bruneski throwing punches and continuing to fight after a referee attempted to break them apart.

Ness played for Wayzata High School through the 2019-20 season before signing wit the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL during his junior and senior seasons of high school. He is currently in his second year at Arizona State University.

Ness had two points in 18 games this season for the Sun Devils.
