Adam Fox out until after All-Star Break

The NHL All-Star Game will take place on Feb. 5 in Las Vegas. Festivities begin the day before with the All-Star Skills Competition.

It will be a celebration of the next generation of stars after 18 of the 36 players named to represent their respective divisions by the league’s hockey operations department were chosen for the showcase contest for the first time.

Adam Fox was one of those first-timers, but this upper-body injury takes him out past the All-Star Break.

Early in the third period of the Rangers’ 5-3 loss to Columbus, Fox was pinned up against the boards in what appeared to be an innocent play. However, as soon as he was released he gingerly skated to the bench in discomfort. He went to the locker-room and did not return.

Fox, 23, has recorded 136 points in 169 NHL games to go along with a +53 rating and only 60 penalty minutes. The native of Jericho, LI shocked the hockey world by winning the Norris Trophy for best defenseman in his sophomore season. A feat only accomplished by one other rearguard, Hall of Famer Bobby Orr.

This season, he has 47 points in 44 contests which leads all NHL blue-liners in scoring.
