Panthers get 3-2 overtime win to even series with Capitals

The Florida Panthers rallied to force overtime in Game 4 against the Washington Capitals and won 3-2 to even the series at two games apiece.

Washington took a 2-1 lead early in the third period, but the Panthers tied it up with just over two minutes left when Sam Reinhart scored.

It didn't take Florida long in overtime, as Carter Verhaeghe blasted a shot past Capitals goaltender Ilya Samsonov for his second goal of the game less than five minutes after the start of the extra period.

The Panthers finished the regular season with an NHL-best 58-18-6 record and the top seed in the Eastern Conference. But the Capitals surprised in Game 1 with a 4-2 win and took back the series lead with a dominating 6-1 win in Game 3.

Game 5 in Florida is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
