The Florida Panthers made a pair of transactions on Monday, placing forward Anton Lundell on injured reserve (IR) and recalling winger Justin Sourdif from the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.

Lundell, 22, has two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 28 games this season. He’s missed the Panthers’ last two games due to illness.

Drafted 12th overall by the Panthers in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Lundell has made an impact in his three NHL seasons, scoring 32 goals and 57 assists for 89 points in 166 career games, including a career-high 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points in 65 games in 2020-21.

During the Panthers’ Stanley Cup Final run last season, Lundell scored two goals and eight assists for 10 points in 21 games, averaging 18:04 of ice time.

Sourdif, 21, has appeared in three games with the Panthers during the 2023-24 regular season. In 17 games with the AHL’s Checkers this season, Sourdif has recorded five goals and seven assists for 12 points.

The 2020 third-round pick for the Panthers made his professional debut last season, scoring seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points in 48 games with the Checkers.

The Panthers are 18-10-2 with 38 points through their first 30 games, going 6-3-1 in their last 10. They’re currently on a western Canadian road trip, losing to the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 last Thursday, then bouncing back with a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.

They close out the road trip against the Calgary Flames on Monday night, then fly back home to host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday before facing the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday in a rematch of last season’s Stanley Cup Final.
