The Pittsburgh Penguins placed forward Colin White on waivers Wednesday, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

White had played 11 games for the Penguins since they called him up in January. He did not record a point in any of those games. White averaged 9:57 of ice time during his time with the Penguins.

Before being called up, White played 21 games with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, scoring five goals and five assists for 10 points. The Penguins signed White to a one-year deal in October after he attended Pittsburgh’s training camp on a professional tryout.

White, 26, scored eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 68 games with the Florida Panthers last season. He added two assists in 21 playoff games during the Panthers’ run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final.

Drafted in the first round by the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, White reached career highs in 2018-19 with the Senators, scoring 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points. Through eight NHL seasons, White has 44 goals and 69 assists for 113 points in 303 career games.

Before turning professional, White spent two seasons playing college hockey with Boston College, scoring 35 goals and 41 assists for 76 points in 72 career games.

Internationally, White took a bronze medal with the U.S. at the 2018 World Championships. He also won a gold medal with the U.S. team in the 2017 World Junior Championship, as well as a bronze medal in the 2016 tournament.

The Penguins are 24-21-8 with 56 points, seventh in the Metropolitan Division and eight points behind the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They’re 3-5-2 in their last 10 games and they’ve lost two straight. Their next game is Thursday at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
