There were more issues than a presidential debate to dive into after the Pittsburgh Penguins played well in many phases of their game but yielded to power-play goals within 65 seconds late in the second period and lost 7-4 to the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena.

Kris Letang was nailed with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for arguing after a questionable non-whistle on the first of the two quick New York power-play goals. Letang’s penalty led to the game-winner, but coach Mike Sullivan pushed back on the call.

The Penguins played hard, but mistakes did them in, including a mistake by coach Mike Sullivan, which yielded predictable results.

John Ludvig scored his second goal in two games. Bryan Rust, Valtteri Puustinen, and Lars Eller scored for the Penguins.

PHN Editor-in-Chief Dan Kingerski both praised and criticized the Penguins’ performance and Sullivan. Dan also took some rough reader questions about Sullivan, physicality, and needed changes.

As always, like and comment.
