The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Colin White to a professional tryout agreement, TVA Sports analyst Renaud Lavoie reported Saturday afternoon.

White, 26, collected eight goals and 15 points in 68 games with the Florida Panthers during the 2022–23 regular season.

The 6-foot-1 center added two assists in 21 playoff contests during the Panthers’ run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, which they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

White will join winger Austin Wagner and defensemen Libor Hajek and Mark Pysyk in attending Penguins training camp on a tryout basis.

The Ottawa Senators originally selected White in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. White spent two seasons at Boston College after his draft year before turning pro with the Senators organization in 2017.

After splitting the 2017–18 season between Ottawa and the AHL’s Belleville Senators, White established himself as a full-time NHLer with 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) in 71 games with the Senators in 2018–19.

White struggled to regain his previous form after signing a six-year, $4.75 million AAV contract with the Senators as a restricted free agent in August 2019. He collected just 20 goals and 51 points in 130 games over the following three seasons before being bought out in 2022; the Panthers subsequently signed White to a one-year contract as a UFA.

Through 292 career games over parts of seven NHL seasons with the Senators and Panthers, White has racked up 44 goals and 113 points. He’s chipped in two assists in 22 career playoff games.

The Penguins have had a busy summer after a year in which they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007. With Kyle Dubas now presiding as the club’s GM, the Penguins have added Erik Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Lars Eller, Ryan Graves, Noel Acciari, and Alex Nedeljkovic while also shedding Mikael Granlund, Jeff Petry, Jason Zucker, Brian Dumoulin and Casey DeSmith.
