Pittsburgh Penguins president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas announced Saturday that the club had signed forward Colin White to a one-year, two-way contract that carries an average annual value of $775,000.

White attended the Penguins camp on a professional tryout agreement.

White, 26, collected eight goals and 15 points in 68 games with the Florida Panthers during the 2022–23 regular season. He added two assists in 21 playoff contests during the Panthers’ run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, which they lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

White was initially selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. White spent two seasons in the NCAA at Boston College after his draft year before turning pro with the Senators organization in 2017. In two years with Boston College, he notched 35 goals and 41 assists for 76 points in 72 career games.

The 6-foot-1, 194-pound forward has spent seven seasons in the NHL with Florida and Ottawa; he’s recorded 44 goals and 69 assists for 113 points. His best season came with the Senators in 2018-19, when he set career highs across the board.

The Boston, Massachusetts, product has represented the United States on multiple occasions. He won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2017 World Junior Championship and took home bronze medals at the 2018 World Championship and 2016 World Junior Championship.

The Penguins have made several offseason additions to their roster, including all-star defenseman Erik Karlsson. Pittsburgh opens up the 2023-24 season on Tuesday, Oct. 10, against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks.
