Dante Fabbro is staying put in Nashville.

According to Jeff Marek, Fabbro and the Predators agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract extension.

Fabbro is coming off a two-year, $4.8 million deal that he inked back in August 2021 following the conclusion of his entry-level contract. He would have been a restricted free agent once the 2022-23 season came to an end.

Fabbro was ranked No. 22 on Frank Seravalli’s final trade targets list on Friday morning. There was speculation that the San Jose Sharks could acquire Fabbro to reunite him with David Quinn, his coach from Boston University, but the Predators ultimately decided to hang on to him.

The Preds selected Fabbro with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2016 draft, and he made his debut with them late in the 2018-19 season after spending three years playing NCAA hockey. Since then, Fabbro has played 230 games in the NHL and has scored 12 goals and 56 points.

Nashville currently sits 10th in the Western Conference standings and leaned in to being a seller because of its disappointing season. The Preds dealt Tanner Jeannot, Mattias Ekholm, Nino Niederreiter and Mikael Granlund ahead of the trade deadline.
