Predators sign forward Nino Niederreiter to two-year, $8M deal

The Nashville Predators have agreed to a two-year, $8M contract with free-agent forward Nino Niederreiter.

Niederreiter's deal comes with a $4M AAV

Last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, Niederreiter finished with 44 points (24 goals, 20 assists) in 75 regular-season games. He posted five points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Niederreiter had been with the Hurricanes since 2019, sent to Carolina in a trade from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Victor Rask.

The 29-year-old compiled 137 points (69 goals, 68 assists) in 234 career games for the Hurricanes.

"Thank you, Carolina, for the past 3.5 years I got to spend in Raleigh playing in front of all the amazing Caniacs!" Niederreiter posted on his Instagram Thursday. "I enjoyed every second of being a Hurricane and I will forever cherish the memories and friendships I got to make in Raleigh, the support from all of you Caniacs, and the amazing staff and organization!"

Niederreiter was the No. 5 overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft by the New York Islanders. After spending parts of two seasons on Long Island, New York traded Niederreiter to the Wild for a third-round draft pick and Cal Clutterbuck.

A five-time 20-goal scorer, Niederreiter has averaged 20 goals and 22 assists per season over his 11-year career.

In 732 career NHL games for the Islanders, Wild, and Hurricanes, Niederreiter has 368 points (181 goals, 187 assists).
