Andre Gasseau was born on July 3, 2003, in Garden Grove, California. Gasseau’s father and uncle both played hockey at a high level. His father, James, played two seasons with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Uncle Sandy played for the San Diego Gulls of the West Coast Hockey League in the 1980s. Andre was a member of the Los Angeles Jr Kings from ages 13 to 15 and totaled 58 points in 45 games in his last season with the program. During the 2019-20 season, Gasseau played for the Shattuck St. Mary’s 16U AAA team and registered 33 goals and 29 assists in 45 games. It was that year that the left-shot center joined the United States National Development Program and played for the U17 team before COVID cut the season short. During the 2020-21 season, Gasseau joined the U18 team and scored 12 goals with 15 assists in 43 games and also participated in the USHL schedule.

The Boston Bruins Draft Andre Gasseau in the Seventh Round of the 2021 NHL Draft

Andre Gasseau was drafted in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft, 213th overall by the Boston Bruins. Gasseau was described by Elite Prospects as: “a shooter with some flash and instincts. He consistently finds space between the faceoff dots, ready for a one-timer or catch-and-release wrister. Handling skills complement Gasseau’s shooting, as he turns tricky passes into powerful wristers. He catches passes in motion, beats players in motion, and flashes the 1-on-1 skill to watch through a defender on occasion”. The forward’s smooth hands and effective two-way game were positives.

Gasseau played one season for the Fargo Force in 2021-22 and contributed 22 goals and 16 assists in 60 regular season games and then committed to Boston College for the 2023-24 season to play with fellow Bruins’ prospect Oskar Jellvik. Gasseau has totaled 29 points in each of his first two seasons with the Eagles and will return to Boston College for his junior season in 2024-25.
