The Boston Bruins Select Cole Spicer in the Fourth Round of the 2022 NHL Draft

Cole Spicer was chosen by the Boston Bruins with the 117th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft. Spicer spent the 2021-22 season with the USNTDP 18U team and scored 30 goals with 25 assists in 84 total games and also played internationally for Team USA in the World Junior Championships.

Spicer was described by Elite Prospects as a consistent player which led to the following scout: “While most players his age tend to cut their defensive routes a couple of steps short, in the hope of capitalizing on a quick breakout pass, Spicer goes all the way. He finishes checks, pins players to the board, and wins the puck back. Spicer takes advantage of the mistakes of the opposition”.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the 2022-23 season and scored three goals with three assists in 32 games. The next season, Spicer contributed five goals and four assists in 17 games, however, the forward was academically ineligible for the second half of the year and recently decided to step away from hockey and the UMD program this season.
