Dean Letourneau was born on February 21, 2006, in Braeside, Ontario. Letourneau played for the Ottawa Valley Titans for two seasons and totaled 16 goals and 19 assists in 36 games for the U14 and U15 teams. During the 2021-22 season, the big center joined the Renfrew Wolves U18 AAA club as the 10th overall pick in the CCHL Bantam Protected Draft and contributed 18 goals and 17 assists in 32 regular season games and three goals in five playoff games. In the 2022 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, Letourneau was chosen in the ninth round, 174th overall, but chose to attend St. Andrews College Prep School in Canada. During the 2023-24 season, Letourneau blossomed to 61 goals and 66 assists in 56 regular season games and three goals and five assists in the postseason.

The Boston Bruins Select Dean Letourneau in the First Round of the 2024 NHL Draft

Deab Letourneau turned his stellar season into a first-round selection, 25th overall, by the Boston Bruins in the 2024 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-7, 214-pound forward’s size caught the eye of NHL scouts everywhere. Elite Prospects described Letourneau as “gigantic, but contrary to other players, his size does not feel like he is trapped in his own body. He moves quite freely, especially because he uses crossover techniques to avoid the long, slower strides, and there’s a good upper-body/lower-body separation and some agility. A lot of his offense consists of downhill attacks where he surveys pressure, drives the net with his range and size, or leverages the attention he receives to find open teammates”. Letourneau potentially fills a need for Boston at the center position in the future, but is a project that will take a few years to develop.

Letourneau has committed to Boston College for the 2024-25 season and will be teammates with fellow Bruins prospects Oskar Jellvik and Andre Gasseau. The forward showed his vast potential at Bruins Development Camp in July.
