Oskar Jellvik was born on February 8, 2003, in Taby, Sweden. Jellvik’s brother, Anton, is heading into his senior year at Plymouth State University as captain of the hockey team. Oskar played on IFK Taby in Sweden during the 2017-18 season, splitting the year with the U16 and U18 teams. In the J18 Elite League, the left-shot forward scored ten goals and dished out 11 assists in 21 games. The next season with Djurgardens, Jellvik compiled 28 points in 12 games and was elevated to the J20 SuperElit league. In the World Hockey Championships for the U17 team, Jellvik had an assist in four games. During the 2020-21 season, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward played in the J20 Nationell and totaled 12 points in 13 games.
The Boston Bruins Draft Oskar Jellvik in the Fifth Round of the 2021 NHL Draft
Oskar Jellvik was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, 149th overall. The left-shot winger was the 19th left wing selected in the draft, and only three have played an NHL game to date. The scout on Jellvik coming into the draft by Elite Prospects was that “Jellvik pre-scans for teammates, controls skating to not overshoot pockets of space to support plays, gets defenders on his back in possession to extend it, and he hides his next play. There is also some pre-planned manipulation upon receiving the puck”. Jellvik had his best season in Sweden in 2021-22, scoring 26 goals with 29 assists in 41 games.
Oskar Jellvik Commits to Boston College
The next season, Jellvik entered Boston College as a freshman and contributed four goals with 13 assists in 34 games for the Eagles. His sophomore season is where Jellvik saw significant improvement, scoring 13 goals with 29 assists in 41 games playing with fellow Bruins prospect Andre Gasseau. Jellvik will be entering his junior season at Boston College for the 2024-25 season and has participated in Bruins Development Camp.
