According to reports out of New York, Rangers forward Filip Chytil sustained an injury and was helped off the ice.

Daily Faceoff’s Jonny Lazarus was boots on the ground at Madison Square Garden and oversaw the incident. No official update has been provided.

“When Filip was being helped off the ice it looked like he wasn’t putting any pressure on his left leg,” Lazarus said in a series of tweets on the social media platform X.

The injury is concerning as Chytil has been out of the lineup since November 2nd due to an upper-body injury, and had returned to his home country of Czechia to heal and train before making the trip back to New York this week.

The 24-year-old was producing when he was healthy at the start of the season racking up six assists in 10 games. That would have put him on pace for 49 points in a full season, which would have surpassed his current career-high of 45 points set during the 2022-23 campaign. Chytil is currently in the first year of a four-year contract with a $4.4375 million cap hit.

Chytil has become a solid playmaker in the league in the past four years. His 0.78 primary assists per 60 minutes is tied for 63rd among forwards with at least 2,000 minutes of ice time, which is at the level of top line production if he ever can get a top six role with the Rangers.

New York currently sits first in the Metropolitan Division and eight league-wide with a 29-15-3 record and 61 points through 47 games. New York is set to face off against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions Vegas Golden Knights on Friday and the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
