Rangers' Jacob Trouba on Sidney Crosby hit: 'Hopefully he's better soon'

The New York Rangers entered Wednesday's Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins facing elimination but forced a Game 6 Friday night in Pittsburgh with a come-from-behind 5-3 victory at Madison Square Garden.

However, all many have discussed since even before the contest's conclusion was the controversial high hit Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba delivered to Penguins superstar captain Sidney Crosby in the game's second period that presumably prematurely ended Crosby's evening and may have put the 34-year-old with a history of concussion issues out indefinitely.

Trouba learned Thursday he'll face no supplemental discipline from the league regarding the incident, and he spoke with reporters about what could ultimately be his biggest overall moment of the series.

"Kind of tried going stick on puck when he was gonna shoot," Trouba explained, per Danny Abriano of SNY. "My stick kind of went in between his legs and kind of hit his thigh, kind of pushed my arm up. Kind of a fluky play, wasn't massively hard contact. Unfortunately, you don't ever want to see a guy get hurt. I don't know exactly what the injury is, but hopefully, he's better soon."

Crosby is officially being evaluated for an unspecified upper-body injury and is considered "day-to-day." If the Rangers defeat the Penguins on Friday, Game 7 would take place Sunday in New York.
