Jimmy Vesey is back on Broadway.

The New York Rangers have signed Vesey to a professional tryout, CapFriendly reported Friday morning. Vesey, 29, previously played for the Rangers from 2016 to 2019.

Vesey spent the 2021-22 season on a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils, scoring eight goals and 15 points in 68 games.

The Nashville Predators originally selected Vesey in the third round (No. 66 overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, but he refused to sign with them (or the Buffalo Sabres, who later traded for his rights).

Vesey wrapped up his college career at Harvard University in 2016 and was heavily pursued as a free agent. The Rangers ultimately won the Vesey sweepstakes, signing the 6-foot-3, 207-pound left wing to an entry-level contract that summer.

After scoring 50 goals and 90 points in 240 games over three seasons with the Rangers, Vesey’s tenure with the club ended when the Sabres acquired him again in 2019.

Vesey struggled through one unproductive season in Buffalo before splitting the 2020-21 campaign between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks. He signed with the Devils last fall after a successful tryout with the team.

In 422 career NHL regular-season games with the Rangers, Sabres, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Devils, Vesey has scored 72 goals and 135 points. He also appeared in 12 playoff games during his first season with the Rangers, scoring one goal and five points.
