dekeyser Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Red Wings have activated defenseman Danny DeKeyser off injured reserve in advance of Wednesday’s game against the New York Rangers.

DeKeyser, 32, is expected to return to his usual spot alongside Moritz Seider on the Red Wings’ top pairing. The 6’3″ left-handed defenseman has six points (all assists) in 43 games with the Red Wings this season.

Currently in the final season of the six-year, $30 million contract he signed with the Red Wings back in 2016, DeKeyser has not played since March 5 while dealing with an undisclosed injury. It appears he will replace Jordan Oesterle in Detroit’s lineup against the Rangers.

In 531 career games with the Red Wings, DeKeyser has 33 goals and 141 points. The Red Wings (26–32–8) will host the Rangers (43–19–5) at 7:30 p.m. ET in Wednesday’s nationally-televised game (TNT).
