Detroit Red Wings goaltender Michael Hutchinson and Buffalo Sabres forward Tyson Jost both have found themselves on the waiver wire for Dec. 28.

Jost has four points in 29 games this season with Buffalo, he signed a one-year, $2,000,000 contract in the summer.

The Colorado Avalanche selected Jost No. 10 overall in the 2016 NHL Draft. The St. Albert, Alberta center made his NHL debut with the Avalanche late in the 2016–17 season after spending a year at the University of North Dakota.

Jost spent parts of six seasons with the Avalanche before being dealt to the Minnesota Wild for Nico Sturm at the 2022 trade deadline. While Sturm won the Stanley Cup in Colorado, Jost finished out the year with the Wild and went goalless in 12 games with the team to start 2022–23 before being claimed off waivers by the Sabres.

Through 442 career games over parts of seven NHL seasons with the Avalanche, Wild, and Sabres, Jost has collected 56 goals and 82 assists for 138 points. He’s added six goals and 10 points in 46 career playoff contests.

The Wings recently signed Hutchinson, about two weeks ago, to a one-year, two-way contract. He appeared in one game with Detroit and posted a 3.11 goals-against average. He has primarily spent his time in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapids Griffins. He has posted a 5-7-1 record with a .895 save percentage and one shutout in 13 games.

Hutchinson was selected in the third round by the Boston Bruins in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft; the Barrie, Ontario product has compiled a 57-61-18 record with a .902 save percentage and six shutouts in 153 career NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche and Blue Jackets since 2013-14.
