While the Detroit Red Wings may be without a victory in 2022, they continue to open the new year on a positive note as another one of their skaters has exited the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol.

On Monday, the team announced via social media that defenseman Nick Leddy had been cleared from COVID protocol, allowing him to return to practice with his teammates.

Leddy, 30, was placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol back on Dec. 26 and is the final member of the team to clear the league’s COVID list.

During his inaugural campaign with Detroit, the left-handed blueliner has averaged 21:42 minutes of ice-time per game, posting eight assists, 30 shots on goal, 26 blocks, 16 hits and 11 takeaways through 31 contests.

On a related note, forward Pius Suter missed Monday’s practice due to maintenance, however, coach Jeff Blashill expects the 25-year-old to be available for Tuesday’s home matchup against the San Jose Sharks.

The Red Wings will continue searching for their first victory since returning from the holiday break when they face off against the Sharks at Little Ceasars Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 pm ET.
