Two Detroit Red Wings prospects have been selected to represent the United States of America at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Detroit selected forwards Carter Mazur and Red Savage in back-to-back rounds at the 2021 NHL Draft. On Tuesday, USA Hockey announced the selections of both Mazur and Savage to play for Team USA at the 2022 World Juniors.

Mazur, 19, was the Red Wings’ third-round selection at the 2021 draft. The left-shooting right wing has nine goals and 17 points in 16 games as a freshman with the University of Denver.

Savage, 18, is the son of former Montreal Canadiens and Phoenix Coyotes forward Brian Savage. The Red Wings selected the Scottsdale, AZ product in the fourth round of the 2021 draft; Savage has seven points in 16 games as a freshman with Miami University (Ohio).

With Team USA’s roster now finalized, the following Red Wings prospects are now confirmed to be attending the 2022 World Juniors:

USA: Carter Mazur (F), Red Savage (F)

Canada: Sebastian Cossa (G), Donovan Sebrango (D)

SwedenSimon Edvinsson (D), Theodor Niederbach (F)

Finland: Eemil Viro (D)

The 2022 World Juniors will take place in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta from Dec. 26, 2021 to Jan. 5, 2022.
