With five days since their last game and All Star Claude Giroux returning, The Flyers battled it out in Boston tonight falling just short and suffering a tough loss 3-2. The Bruins coming into the game were winners of six out their last seven games. There was a lot to like in tonight’s game and fans should be excited. A slow start led the team to being outshot 12-6 and falling behind 2-0 on two goals by Pastrnak in the first period.

Cam Atksinon said after the game, “No excuses. We did the opposite of what our gam plan told us to do. Obviously we got back to it in the second and third periods”.

This showed as the team came out firing. Atkinson, who is also eligible for the All Star game through fan voting, started the scoring in the second period with his 15th goal of the year putting the team on the board. He would also have an assist on Joel Farabee’s goal that tied things up at 2-2. Parstrnak then completed his hat trick on a five on three advantage putting the Bruins ahead to stay at 3-2.

A scoreless thrid period led to the team pulling Hart for the man advantage with 3 minutes left in the game. Although the tactic didn’t pan out. The team faught til the very end. It was an entertaining game that saw a battle of outstanding goaltending play on both sides of the ice tonight, as Carter Hart had 33 stops for the Flyers and Tuukka Rask having 25 for his Bruins.

Mike Yeo said after the game, “The team needed to win those one on one battles. Every shift through the course of the game. There are moments and plays that you need to treat like it’s the difference in the game. We haven’t been able to grasp that yet. We have to play a more complete game. We have spurts here and there and aren’t able to sustain momentum. We have to do a much better job than that.”

The Flyers will be back in action on Saturday night as they play host to the New York Rangers.
