Is Patrick Kane's time in Chicago coming to an end? Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Report: Blackhawks haven't had trade discussions involving Patrick Kane, despite rumors

The Chicago Blackhawks aren't shopping All-Star Patrick Kane, according to Mark Lazerus of The Athletic, refuting an earlier report that the team was actively participating in trade discussions.

Kane, 33, has spent his entire career with Chicago since he was picked by the team with the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. During his tenure with the team, the Blackhawks have won three Stanley Cups, and Kane has earned the Conn Smythe, Hart Memorial and Art Ross Trophies.

With Chicago in the beginning stages of a full-scale rebuild, Kane's place with the team has been called into question. He's entering the final season of a eight-year contract with the Blackhawks, but the team finished the 2021-22 season with a 28-42-12 record and doesn't look ready to compete for a title any time soon.

"I love Chicago, I love the city, I love the fans, the organization's been amazing to me and my family, so there's really not much to [not] like here," Kane said after the season ended, via NBC Chicago. "But I think there's always business decisions. I know in the game of hockey there's not many guys that have plated their whole career with one team, so it would be privilege and an honor to do that, but I guess we'll see how it all plays out."

Last week, Darren Dreger of TSN reported that Kane is still "undecided" about sticking with the Blackhawks or hunting for a trade.
