Change is in the air in Calgary, it appears. Per multiple reports, the Calgary Flames are moving on from head coach Darryl Sutter.
The 64-year-old Sutter was two months away from his two-year contract extension kicking in, which was set to pay him a reported $4.3 million per season through 2024-25. However, interim general manager (and president of hockey operations) Don Maloney noted at his introductory press conference that “everything” was being reviewed, when asked about Sutter’s future with the club.
Two weeks later, that review has concluded and resulted in Sutter’s departure.
