The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forwards Andreas Athanasiou and Max Domi, The Athletic’s Scott Powers reported.

As noted by our own Frank Seravalli, the deals are both one-year, $3-million deals.

Athanasiou, 27, is coming off a strong two-year stint with the L.A. Kings that saw him score 21 goals and 40 points in 75 games. Domi, also 27, split time between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes last year scoring 11 goals and 39 points in 72 games between the two clubs.

With the Blackhawks demolishing their roster, these are two players who will have a chance to play minutes in Chicago’s top-six and could very easily become trade chips at the deadline. It’ll also be a good chance for both players to boost their own value as free agents next year.

Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the fourth round of the 2012 draft, Athanasiou had a brief stint with the Edmonton Oilers before joining the Kings ahead of the 2020-21 season. Domi, meanwhile, was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes 12th overall in 2013. He played three years there, before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens and later the Columbus Blue Jackets.
