The Florida Panthers are pursuing Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nick Leddy, according to a report by  Province Sports reporter Patrick Johnston.

Leddy, 30, has one goal and 16 points in 55 games with the Red Wings this season. He’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and is currently signed at a $5.5 million cap hit.

The Red Wings originally acquired Leddy from the New York Islanders during the 2021 off-season in exchange for a 2021 second-round draft pick.

Johnston did not indicate what the Panthers might give up to acquire Leddy. The Panthers do not have a first-round draft pick in each of the next three drafts and only have a second-round selection in one (2023).

The 2022 National Hockey League deadline will come to pass at 3:00 p.m. ET on Monday, March 21.

More to come.
