Report: Florida Panthers moving on from general manager Dale Tallon

After an upsetting qualifying-round performance against the New York Islanders, it appears the Florida Panthers are preparing to make a change.

According to Andy Strickland of Fox Sports Midwest, the Panthers will be parting ways with general manager Dale Tallon

Florida won just once against New York in four games, and the team proved to be no match for an Islanders squad run by Barry Trotz. They were officially eliminated from the qualifying round on Friday after a 5-1 loss to the Islanders.

Tallon was hired by the Panthers in 2010 as a replacement to Randy Sexton. Since Tallon was hired, the Panthers have not won a playoff series.

Under Tallon, though, the organization has made some solid additions via the draft. Florida has selected, and held onto, Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, MacKenzie Weegar, Aaron Ekblad, Samuel Montembeault, Owen Tippett and Spencer Knight.

Although he helped with the overhaul, Florida, quite clearly, is looking for someone who can lead them to a playoff victory, and it doesn't appear Tallon can do that.

Peter Chiarelli, Ron Hextall and John Chayka all could be options to replace Tallon.
