Report: Former Capitals star Brooks Laich, wife Julianne Hough split

Former Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich reportedly has separated from his wife and "Dancing with the Stars" judge Julianne Hough after almost three years of marriage, according to People magazine.

"We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate," the couple said in a joint statement released to People. "We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward."

Laich and Hough had been together since 2014 and were married in July of 2017. The couple has been quarantining in two separate locations amid the coronavirus pandemic, People magazine reports, and have not seen each other for two months. Laich has been staying in Idaho while Hough is in Los Angeles.

Laich, 36, spent 12 seasons with the Capitals and tallied 133 goals and 324 points. He was traded from Washington to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season and finished his career with the Los Angeles Kings in 2018.
