Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill Lucas Peltier-USA TODAY Sports

The Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights are nearing a two-year extension with goalie Adin Hill, according to Elliotte Friedman. The deal is reported to be in the $4.9 million range annually.

Hill is coming off of a triumphant 16-game playoff performance in which he posted a 11-4 record with a 2.17 GAA and league-leading .932 SV%. During the regular season, he played in 27 games for the Golden Knights, earning a 16-7-1 record with a 2.45 GAA and .915 SV%. He was one of five goalies to appear in a Golden Knights uniform during the 2022-23 season, along with starter Logan Thompson, Laurent Brossoit, Jonathan Quick and Jiri Patera. Not to mention the injured Robin Lehner who is still on the team, officially.

Hill is yet another success story to emerge from the Arizona desert. Darcy Kuemper, a former Arizona Coyotes netminder, led the Colorado Avalanche to the Stanley Cup last year. Antti Raanta played four seasons for the Coyotes and is now part of a tandem in Carolina that led the Hurricanes to the conference finals this past season. Finally, long-time Coyote Mike Smith led the Edmonton Oilers to the conference finals in 2021-22.

The 27-year-old Hill was originally selected by the Coyotes in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft. After making the jump from the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, Hill put up solid numbers in the AHL over the coming years, but never really latched onto an NHL job in Arizona. He played 13 games each for the Coyotes in 2018-19 and 2019-20, respectively. He also appeared in 19 games for them in 2020-21.

Hill solidified himself as an NHL goalie when he played 25 games for the San Jose Sharks in the 2021-22 season, posting a 10-11-1 record on the rebuilding team. In his career, Hill has a record of 45-39-6 with a 2.66 GAA and .910 SV%. At just 27 years old, he still has a lot left to offer the NHL.
