The most recent update on Colorado Avalanche forward Artturi Lehkonen from the team was that he was set to miss “weeks” after a scary fall into the boards last week against the Seattle Kraken.

Lehkonen’s father, Ismo, provided a small update on his son on a Finnish podcast this week.

The 28 year old forward is currently in a neck brace due to the injury he suffered from the fall into the boards. There is no real update on a timeline for his injury, but Lehkonen’s mother has flown to Denver to help him during his recovery.

While the incident didn’t appear to be intentional in any way, the Avalanche did look to stand up for the hard working forward. During Monday night’s victory over the Kraken, Kurtis MacDermid went toe-to-toe with Jamie Oleskiak, who was involved in the incident with Lehkonen. Jared Bednar said after the injury that he didn’t believe anything dirty happened, but this is likely just one teammate standing up from the other.

After the injury, Lehkonen was taken to the hospital out of precaution. As Ismo said on the podcast, that’s not a call any parent wants to get.

Lehkonen, who is irreplaceable in the lineup according to Bednar, is going to be greatly missed by the Avalanche. He plays in all situations, and is effective all over the ice. In 12 games this season, he has three goals and eight points.

Stay tuned to CHN for more updates, and we wish the Finnish forward a speedy recovery back to health.
