Sabres D Rasmus Dahlin out against Blue Jackets with lower-body injury

At 16-26-8 with 40 points, the Buffalo Sabres are running out of time to make a postseason push. It won't get much easier on Sunday night, as Buffalo faces the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road, while playing without one of its best skaters.

With 49 points, Columbus (24-23-1) is one of the squads ahead of Buffalo in the wild-card race.

Dahlin was selected first overall by the Sabres in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and has played in all but one of their games this season. He is tied with Mark Pysyk for the team lead in games played, is third in points with 33 and leads Buffalo with 25 assists.

The 21-year-old has recorded a helper in four straight contests, although the Sabres have lost two in a row.

The Sabres will play the Montreal Canadiens on the road at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
