Saturday's Stars-Lightning game postponed due to winter weather

The winter storm that left thousands upon thousands of Texas residents without power and hot water has also given the Dallas Stars an unplanned off week. 

On Thursday, the Stars confirmed that Saturday's game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning is postponed. "As a result of ongoing power issues caused by severe weather in the Dallas area, and after continued consultation with City and State officials, the National Hockey League announced today that Saturday night's game between the Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning at American Airlines Center has been postponed," the Stars explained in a brief statement. 

Dallas was supposed to face Tampa Bay on Thursday and host the Nashville Predators on Monday and Tuesday but had all of those games scrapped because of the inclement winter weather that caused multiple postponements and reschedulings in college sports. The Stars generated negative headlines on Monday when they waited until an hour before puck drop to announce the matchup against Nashville was called off. 

The club added in its statement: "The League is working on rescheduling the four games postponed in Dallas this week and will announce the new dates as soon as they can be confirmed." 

Dallas hasn't competed since suffering a fifth consecutive defeat last Saturday, a shootout loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Stars are next scheduled to play at the Florida Panthers on Monday.
