The Seattle Kraken announced during tonight’s game against the Winnipeg Jets that forward Jaden Schwartz would not return to the game following an upper-body injury. Schwartz logged 3:09 of ice time.

Schwartz has tallied 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 46 games this season and ranks ninth in points among Kraken skaters. Schwartz dealt with injuries earlier in the season that kept him out of the lineup, it’s unclear if this is related or not.

The Melfort, Saskatchewan product was initially drafted No. 14 overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Over parts of 13 seasons, he has registered 194 goals and 277 assists for 471 points in 741 games with the Blues and Kraken and won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2018-19.

Schwartz is currently in year three of a five-year, $27,500,000 contract he signed with the Kraken. The contract has an average annual value (AAV) of $5.5 million.

The Kraken sit tied for fifth in the Pacific Division with the Calgary Flames, compiling a 28-23-11 record and 67 points through 62 games. Following tonight’s game against the Jets, the Kraken are set to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday and the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Watch for head coach Dave Hakstol to provide an update on Schwartz’s status over the weekend.
