The Seattle Kraken have signed center Devin Shore to a one-year, $775,000 contract.

Shore, 29, was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his two-year contract with an $850,000 cap hit that he signed with the Edmonton Oilers. He sees a pay decrease of $75,000, although still not as little as his $700,000 cap hit in his first season with the Oilers in 2020-21.

Shore is coming off his least productive season in the NHL, with just one goal, eight assists, and nine points in 47 games with the Oilers. It’s tied with his 2020-21 season for a career-low in points, but has a higher points-per-game mark due to him playing only 38 games that season. He didn’t get into any playoff action with the Oilers despite their run to the second round. He also played five games in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, where he had two goals, three assists, and five points.

Shore was a second-round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2012, selected 61st overall out of the OJHL. After a few seasons at the University of Maine, he spent parts of five seasons in the Stars organizations before he was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks in a deal for Andrew Cogliano in 2019. He spent the next year with the Ducks before they traded him to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Sonny Milano at the 2020 trade deadline. After just six games in Columbus, he then signed with the Oilers in free agency, where he’s spent the past three seasons.

The Kraken have made a couple other additions this offseason, most notably signing Brian Dumoulin, Kailer Yamamoto, and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare in free agency. They also locked up restricted free agents William Borgen and Vince Dunn to contracts, and have no remaining RFAs to re-sign with just under $1 million in cap space.
