The bad luck continues. Seattle Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol addressed the media this afternoon and stated that forward Andre Burakovksy is out week-to-week.

The injury is unrelated to the procedure he had for an upper-body injury that kept him out of the lineup for six to eight weeks.

Hakstol added, “I’m sure it’s frustrating for him.”

The 28-year-old winger has three points in seven games this season.

The Swedish product missed just under half of the 2022-23 season with a groin muscle tear, ending his inaugural season with Seattle with 13 goals and 39 points in 49 games. Had he stayed healthy, his point total would have been close to his personal best of 61 points set the year before when he helped the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup.

Burakovsky was drafted No. 23 overall in 2013 by the Washington Capitals, Burakovsky quickly became a consistent goal-scorer early in his NHL Career. He reached the 30-point mark twice with Washington before truly finding his calling with Colorado, recording at least 44 points in each of his three seasons in Denver. He was excellent during the 2020 playoffs, scoring seven goals and 17 points in 15 playoff games.

The Kraken surprised the league by beating the Colorado Avalanche and nearly advancing to the Western Conference Final in the club’s first playoff run last season. After a rocky start this season that saw them start 14-1 the Kraken currently sit fifth in the Pacific Division with an 8-13-6 record and 22 points over 27 games. They are just three points back from fourth-seed Calgary Flames, with the Edmonton Oilers trailing just one point behind in a tight race.
