Senators-Devils rescheduled for Dec. 6 after Ottawa COVID-19 outbreak

The Ottawa Senators haven't played since last Sunday because of a COVID-19 outbreak that forced the postponements of their subsequent three games.

One of those contests was rescheduled ahead of the weekend.

Per the NHL's official website, Ottawa's matchup at the New Jersey Devils originally set to take place this past Tuesday will now occur on Dec. 6 at Prudential Center. The Senators also had contests against the Nashville Predators on Thursday and versus the New York Rangers on Saturday called off, but no makeup dates for those games were announced.

The league added that eight Senators players will be eligible to clear NHL COVID-19 protocols Saturday when the team can return to the practice ice for the first time since its training facilities closed down this past Monday because of the virus. Forward Drake Batherson and defenseman Nikita Zaitsev are still in the protocol, and their statuses for Monday evening's game at the Colorado Avalanche aren't known.

The Senators will have plenty of ground to make up once they're back in action, as they began Friday night at 4-10-1 and in dead last in the Atlantic Division standings.
