Senators sign forward Alex Galchenyuk to one-year, $1.05M contract
The Ottawa Senators announced on Wednesday that they've signed forward Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year contract worth $1.05 million.
Galchenyuk began the 2019-20 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins but was traded to the Minnesota Wild last February. In total, the 26-year-old recorded eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points over 59 regular-season games.
"Alex's signing represents another good addition for us at forward," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in the club's official statement. "He's versatile in that he can play both left wing and center. He's gifted offensively, has been a solid power-play contributor and is a proven goal scorer in this league."
The Montreal Canadiens selected Galchenyuk third overall in the 2012 NHL Draft, and he remained with the organization until he was shipped to the Arizona Coyotes before the start of the 2018-19 season. He then joined Pittsburgh via a trade in June 2019.
Across 549 regular-season contests, Galchenyuk has tallied 135 goals and 185 assists (320 points), including 41 goals and 65 helpers in power-play situations. He's notched four goals and nine assists in 32 postseason games.
