On Tuesday, the Calgary Flames are expected to announce Craig Conroy as the club’s eighth general manager. Per Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, that likely won’t be the only personnel announcement made.

Veteran executive Dave Nonis and Flames legend, and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Jarome Iginla are both expected to be joining the Flames front office.

Nonis was previously with the Anaheim Ducks (2015-22), Toronto Maple Leafs (2008-15) and Vancouver Canucks (1998-2008), including stints as GM with Toronto and Vancouver. Before moving into hockey operations, he spent four seasons playing with the University of Maine. All-told, Nonis has spent nearly a quarter-century in NHL front offices.

Iginla is entering his third season as a coach at the RINK Hockey Academy in Kelowna, coaching his youngest son Joe, after spending time coaching his kids in high-end youth hockey in the Boston area. Prior to moving into coaching, Iginla played 21 seasons in the NHL, including a stint with the Flames that ended with him as the all-time leader in games played, goals and points, and as the club’s longest-serving captain. Iginla retired in 2018, his jersey number was retired by the Flames in 2019, and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.

The Flames’ front office currently includes president of hockey operations (and interim GM) Don Maloney and assistant GMs Conroy, Brad Pascall and Chris Snow. We’ll see what duties and titles everybody is given, as well as any other potential changes, when Conroy’s promotion to GM is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
