The San Jose Sharks released their 2023 training camp roster on Monday, revealing that the club had signed forwards Justin Bailey and Tanner Kaspick to professional tryout offers.

Bailey, 28, has 82 games of NHL experience, scoring five goals and nine points between Buffalo, Philadelphia and Vancouver. He last played in the NHL with the Canucks in 2021-22, failing to register a point in 14 games. His last point came during the 2018-19 season while with Philadelphia. Last year, Bailey had 19 goals and 32 points in 2022-23, showing value as a power forward with a physical edge.

Kaspick, 25, was drafted 119th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2016. Since turning pro in 2018-19, Kaspick has never made it past the AHL, recording a career-best 14 points with San Antonio in 2019-20. He is coming off of a six-point effort in 43 games with the Iowa Wild last year, the first year he spent on an AHL deal.

Kaspick won the Hlinka Gretzky Cup with Canada in 2015 before helping the Brandon Wheat Kings take the WHL title later that year.

The pair are the only two players on San Jose with PTOs, with the Sharks taking 64 players to the team’s training camp later this week. The Sharks are expected to finish near the bottom of the standings again in 2023-24, with the club recently selecting Will Smith as the fourth overall pick during the 2023 NHL Draft.
