The goalie swap between the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues is complete.

The Wings acquired Ville Husso from the Blues earlier this offseason and now Thomas Greiss is leaving Detroit to sign in St. Louis.

Greiss made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks in 2007-08 but didn’t break out until nearly a decade later when he joined the New York Islanders. In four seasons with New York, Greiss posted a .913 save percentage and won the Jennings Trophy alongside Robin Lehner in 2018-19.

Greiss inked a two-year, $7.2 million deal with the Red Wings in free agency back in October of 2020. In two seasons with the Red Wings, Greiss posted a .901 save percentage across 31 games. The 36-year-old has a .912 save percentage in 347 NHL games.

The Blues will move forward with a goaltending tandem of Jordan Binnington and Greiss while the Red Wings will roll with Husso and Alex Nedeljkovic.
