Stars' season opener postponed after six players test positive for COVID-19
The Dallas Stars were forced to abruptly cancel practice on Friday and close their training facility after six players and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
The NHL released a statement Friday announcing that the team's season opener will not be played until Jan. 19 at the earliest following the positive tests.
Those who tested positive for the virus are isolating and following CDC and NHL protocols. The training facility will remain closed for the next several days while contact tracing and testing are conducted.
The NHL is working on revising the Stars' schedule, and a new date for the team's season opener should be announced in the coming days.
Dallas was supposed to take on the Florida Panthers on Jan. 14.
